Research Fellow: Adrian Bazavan

Adrian is a trade policy and due diligence professional, advising European public and private organisations on compliance solutions in respect to commercial sanctions and restrictive measures. He is specialised in EU-ASEAN trade relations and China's science and technology policy.


After working several years  for the European Commission and the Romanian Ministry of Economy and Energy, he currently acts as the Manager of the EU-funded Due Diligence Helpdesk on EU Sanctions for EU SMEs dealing with Iran. He also works as a trade expert on developing DG Trade’s newly-launched Access2Markets portal. Previous projects for the European Commission include Improving EU Access to National and Regional Financial Incentives for Innovation in China and the Sustainability Impact Assessments in support of free trade negotiations between EU and the Philippines,  Indonesia and Malaysia.


Adrian’s academic work has appeared in international journals such as Technological Forecasting & Social Change. He holds a MA in Public Policies and European Integration from the National School of Political Studies and Public Administration and an MA in Chinese Studies and International Relations from Beijing University. He is currently completing a PhD in Economics at the Bucharest University of Economics.
